This issue of Some Magazine deals with the mask as a cultural phenomenon. It is about human identity between hiding, changing and revealing. From a Stone Age hunter in animal masquerade to a theatre actor in medieval Japan to the face filters of our social media present: the mask has always accompanied humans as an identity-manipulating accessory. We know masks in all media and all formats: carved, printed, knitted, cinematically and scenographically staged or digitally and interactively. It always revolves around the amazing simplicity of a human facial form made of the same ingredients, above all: two eyes, a nose and a mouth. This semester, our seminar at FH Potsdam was accompanied by the Danish musician Jonas Bjerre, singer of the band Mew. For this we would like to thank him very much. We present his own artistic and cinematic work on page 36. Swiss poster designer Niklaus Troxler has created some superbly simple masks especially for this issue, also here we say a big thank you! We talked to Stefan Sagmeister about happiness - another important topic in these times when almost the entire issue was created from the home offices of our editors.
